Demographic Trend: Multiracial Pride

Pew Research Center has analyzed how multiracial Americans view themselves. In 2013, the U.S. Census Bureau found that roughly 9 million Americans viewed themselves as being one or more races. This is believed to be a lower figure than is reality. Those Americans surveyed who placed themselves in this demographic category had great pride in their multiracial background and about a quarter were annoyed when people made assumptions about them. The trend is rapidly growing for Americans to claim a multiracial background. As pointed out in the article, this could be for a number of reasons.
