Media Literacy Educates Against Fake News

Can third graders be taught to discern fake news when they read it? That is what Washington is hoping to do with a new statewide school program it is implementing. Recent studies have shown young adults are quite poor at discerning fake news. By starting with young students and having them discuss and write fake news, the belief is it will lead to media literacy and the ability to determine what is fake.
