Strife Among Univision Brass Precedes Cuts
Univision is still the nation’s largest Spanish-language media outlet, but its audience has dropped sharply in recent year and competitors are nipping at its heels. This week its new CEO announced it is laying off six percent of its workforce. It will refocus on its local TV stations and Spanish digital; it will also look into selling Gizmodo and The Onion, part of an effort a while back to move into English-language media.
