Wildfires Rage, SL Providers Be Prepared

Fire graphicWildfires are again being reported throughout the west. Last year a number of SL Providers had to evacuate their communities. In general, our experience is that senior living companies are fairly well-prepared for natural disasters should they need to evacuated. Many have done so with great success. Others have evacuation procedures ready and up to date. It is communicating in a natural disaster that the preparation is lacking, or plans have not been practice. Bottom line: Resident and associates lives are the top priority and senior living companies are doing a good job addressing their safety. However, evacuations can have serious long term consequences on companies reputations and for lawsuits coming from evacuation incidents. One SL provider is trying to deal with that situation now as explained in this Senior Housing News article. When a crisis situation occurs, communications staff and resources get spread very thin. Having added communications resources that are highly experienced and ready to act quickly is the key to mitigating damage. That’s why Goldman & Associates Public Relations has developed our SL Crisis Mitigation service. As the season for wildfires and hurricanes is in full wing, now is the time to talk to Goldman & Associates before a natural disaster strikes your senior living company.
