Many venture capitalists have little interest investing in a consumer brand start up because they can’t get a sense of how successful it will be. However, it is interesting to note that the television show Shark Tank, that is mostly focused on start up consumer brands, is so successful at growing them and keeping viewers entertained. Large businesses have taken gambles on new consumer brands and have had huge successes such as Dollar Shave Club and Bonobos. TC has examined the signs to look for in what might become a brand success. Their article is quite enlightening and probably should be used by venture capitalists.
