Privacy and Personal Data Collection

PrivacyIn what can only be called a landmark study, Pew Research Center has done a deep dive into how American’s feel about privacy when it comes to companies and the government collecting data from their Internet and smartphone use. This quote from the headline of the study sums it up, “Concerned, Confused and Feeling Lack of Control Over Their Personal Information.” The collection of data has become “such a common condition of modern life that roughly six-in-ten U.S. adults say they do not think it is possible to go through daily life without having data collected about them by companies or the government.” The study is clear, Americans don’t like personal data collection. Many don’t read statements from companies about data collection, but those who do don’t necessarily understand the information, read it thoroughly or feel they can do anything about it.
